April 2026 Present Update: PayPal IPN Notifications (Funnelish V2)
This thread discusses legacy PayPal IPN failure emails related to the old Funnelish V1 system. In Funnelish V2, these manual IPN configurations are entirely deprecated and no longer used.
What’s Changed & Deprecated
- Legacy IPN URLs: The old URL
https://app.funnelish.com/apps/api/v1/ipnis part of our legacy system. If you receive “failing” emails from PayPal regarding this URL, it means your PayPal account is still trying to send data to an old V1 funnel that is no longer active.- PayPal v1 & v2 Plugins: These older plugins relied on PayPal’s IPN system, which was often delayed or blocked by server firewalls.
Current Behavior: Native Webhooks & API
Funnelish V2 uses a modern, native API connection with PayPal. This is significantly more stable and faster than the old IPN method:
- No Manual Setup: You no longer need to copy/paste an IPN URL into your PayPal settings.
- Native Integration: When you connect PayPal via the Integrations tab in Funnelish, the system automatically sets up the necessary communication channels (Webhooks) on the backend.
- Instant Syncing: Orders are synced to Funnelish and Shopify instantly upon payment, without waiting for legacy IPN pings.
How to Stop the Error Emails
If you are receiving IPN failure emails from PayPal:
- Log in to your PayPal Business account.
- Go to Account Settings > Notifications > Instant Payment Notifications.
- You can safely Turn Off IPNs or remove the legacy Funnelish V1 URL if you have already migrated to Funnelish V2.
- Ensure your current funnels are using the native PayPal integration found in the Funnelish Integrations dashboard.
