Is there any tax app to be used aside from taxjar and stripe tax? Specifically business operating in Canada. What tax app is available that’s compatible with Funnelish? Thanks
Hey folks reading this from the future! Please see my latest reply below. Our dev team has decided to bypass a Stripe-only toggle in favor of building a completely native Funnelish tax engine to better support multiple payment gateways!).
Hi @Zelskie1028 ![]()
At the moment, for a business operating in Canada (or anywhere outside the US), Stripe Tax is definitely the best way to go..
However, as a little sneak peek
… I can confirm we are actively working on a native Funnelish taxation solution! We aim to have it rolled out ASAP, so keep an eye out for updates.
Have specific needs for the native tax feature? We’d love your input! Feel free to drop your specific Canadian tax requirements into our Feature requests category so our dev team can make sure we have them covered.
@AnaB How can we integrate stripe tax in funnelish? We’re currently using taxjar for our US Funnels. But we have a dedicated funnel for Canada and we’re plaing to use stripe tax for that certai funnel only.
To prepare for this, you would just need to set up your specific tax codes and rules inside your Stripe dashboard first.
From our end, we’re still currently working on adding a simple “Enable tax” toggle directly inside the payment gateway settings. Once that toggle is live, it will seamlessly bridge the gap so you can turn on Stripe Tax specifically for that Canadian funnel!
I will make sure to drop an update here as soon as that feature is officially rolled out.
@AnaB Do you have a timeline for that update?
Hi there! ![]()
I don’t have a hard ETA for you just yet, and I want to be completely transparent about why:
I just caught up with our lead team about this exact feature,
As they started mapping out the “Stripe Tax toggle” we talked about, they ran into this issue: if a customer selects a different payment gateway at checkout (like PayPal, Airwallex or anything else), a Stripe-only tax calculation wouldn’t trigger correctly (as it’d would only cover the Stripe gateway) which wouldn’t be ideal. The Stripe solution would also cause issues with the Shopify sync/integration.
Because we want to ensure your tax calculations are accurate regardless of how the customer pays, our team has decided not to prioritize a Stripe-only Tax integration. Instead, they are going all-in on launching our native Funnelish Tax Service.
Building a universal, native tax engine from the ground up takes a bit more time, which is why I can’t give you a definitive launch date today. But it will ultimately be a much better, cleaner solution for your Canadian funnel (and it will ensure the taxes sync perfectly with your Shopify orders).
For the short term, I think the safest workaround for that specific funnel is to bake the estimated Canadian tax into the flat product pricing until our native tax engine goes live.
I know it’s not the immediate “flip a switch” answer you were hoping for today, but I promise the native feature is going to be worth the wait.
Let’s keep this topic open and moved to Feature requests until it’s rolled out, also, let’s try to get it rolled out sooner @AnaB
@AnaB We need to set it up right away, the workaround you mentioned will not work for us. Stripe provided an API to integrate on the funnel, we just need to know how to apply that to the funnel. Is there a step by step process for that?
