Is there any tax app to be used aside from taxjar and stripe tax? Specifically business operating in Canada. What tax app is available that’s compatible with Funnelish? Thanks

@AnaB How can we integrate stripe tax in funnelish? We’re currently using taxjar for our US Funnels. But we have a dedicated funnel for Canada and we’re plaing to use stripe tax for that certai funnel only.
To prepare for this, you would just need to set up your specific tax codes and rules inside your Stripe dashboard first.
From our end, we’re still currently working on adding a simple “Enable tax” toggle directly inside the payment gateway settings. Once that toggle is live, it will seamlessly bridge the gap so you can turn on Stripe Tax specifically for that Canadian funnel!
I will make sure to drop an update here as soon as that feature is officially rolled out.

I don’t have a hard ETA for you just yet, and I want to be completely transparent about why:
I just caught up with our lead team about this exact feature,
As they started mapping out the “Stripe Tax toggle” we talked about, they ran into this issue: if a customer selects a different payment gateway at checkout (like PayPal, Airwallex or anything else), a Stripe-only tax calculation wouldn’t trigger correctly (as it’d would only cover the Stripe gateway) which wouldn’t be ideal. The Stripe solution would also cause issues with the Shopify sync/integration.
Because we want to ensure your tax calculations are accurate regardless of how the customer pays, our team has decided not to prioritize a Stripe-only Tax integration. Instead, they are going all-in on launching our native Funnelish Tax Service.
Building a universal, native tax engine from the ground up takes a bit more time, which is why I can’t give you a definitive launch date today. But it will ultimately be a much better, cleaner solution for your Canadian funnel (and it will ensure the taxes sync perfectly with your Shopify orders).
For the short term, I think the safest workaround for that specific funnel is to bake the estimated Canadian tax into the flat product pricing until our native tax engine goes live.
I know it’s not the immediate “flip a switch” answer you were hoping for today, but I promise the native feature is going to be worth the wait.

@AnaB We need to set it up right away, the workaround you mentioned will not work for us. Stripe provided an API to integrate on the funnel, we just need to know how to apply that to the funnel. Is there a step by step process for that?

@Zelskie1028 Stripe Tax should cover your Canadian funnel. @QTAP since TaxJar’s per-calculation fees were the problem, Stripe Tax is a flat $0.50 per order on pay-as-you-go, and their monthly plans (from $90/mo with filings included) get pretty generous at volume. Zamp has no per-transaction fees at all.
Sorry it took this long. We could have shipped a Stripe-only toggle months ago, but it would break whenever someone pays with PayPal or any other method. So we built it natively instead, and now it works with every payment method. Took longer, hope it’s worth it.
Try them out and let us know how it goes. And if there’s any app or integration you want us to build for your business, just ask.

Question – for Stripe Tax flat 50 cents per order, if an order contains 1 primary purchase, and two upsells taken, does that count as 3 separate orderse, thus $1.5? or still 50 cents. Thanks!
Good question. Yes, each upsell is a separate charge with its own tax calculation, so Stripe counts it as a separate tax transaction. 3 transactions = $1.50.
There’s no cap on pay-as-you-go, it’s $0.50 per transaction no matter the volume.
If you take a lot of upsells, the math changes fast though. Stripe’s Tax Complete plans start at $90/mo for 200 transactions, so if you’re doing more than ~180 tax transactions a month (upsells included), the subscription is already cheaper, and it includes filings too. Past that they have bigger tiers and custom pricing for volume.

By the way, regarding tax integrations – I did find this API that is very cheap but is barebones without all the bells/whistles of other tax calculation platforms. I’ve been using it on some of my other pages and it works well. Could be worth looking into as it’s very affordable.
That ZipTax looks interesting, we will definitely consider it in the next cycle when there is more requests for it from other users too.
Also, we are building our own built-in Tax engine, It will be more fairly priced and easier to use, should be expected in the next few months.
