SOFORT is no longer available. Stripe retired SOFORT as a standalone payment method on 31 March 2025 and folded it into Klarna, where the same pay-by-bank-transfer experience now lives as Klarna’s “pay now” option. New SOFORT gateways can’t be created, and existing ones stopped processing.
What to use instead
Both replacements run through the same Stripe connection SOFORT used:

Klarna — the direct successor. Klarna’s pay-now option is the SOFORT experience under the Klarna brand, and it covers the same German-speaking and wider European markets.

SEPA Direct Debit — pay-by-bank across the whole SEPA zone, and the better fit for subscriptions.
If you still have a SOFORT gateway configured
Remove it from your payment form so customers aren’t shown a method that can’t process, and add Klarna in its place — the setup takes a couple of minutes and is covered in the Klarna article.
