Klarna lets your customer split a purchase into instalments or pay later, while you get paid in full upfront. Klarna takes on the credit risk, not you. For higher-priced offers, that’s the difference between “I’ll think about it” and a completed order, which is why BNPL buttons reliably lift AOV.
There are three ways to offer Klarna in Funnelish, and one is enough. Pick the route that matches what you already have.
Which route?

If you have none of the three, the practical answer is Stripe: it’s self-serve, and the same connection also unlocks cards and five European methods. The direct merchant account makes sense when you already have negotiated Klarna rates or volume that justifies the relationship.
Subscriptions are supported on Klarna through Stripe and Klarna through Airwallex. Both work with managed subscriptions. Klarna through your own merchant account can’t process recurring payments.
Where Klarna works
Klarna is only available in certain countries, and each market accepts specific currencies. Two consequences:

Your funnel’s currency has to match the market you’re selling into, or the Klarna option stays hidden at checkout.

Check Klarna’s own site for the current country list, and your gateway’s documentation for which Klarna markets it supports.
Route 1: Klarna through Stripe

Open your checkout step, select the payment form element, and click Edit payment options.

Click Connect a new gateway, then choose Buy Now, Pay Later → Klarna through Stripe.

Name the gateway, click Connect, and complete the authorisation on Stripe’s side.

Select the new payment method on the list and save your changes.
Then flip the switch in Stripe, because Klarna isn’t active on a Stripe account by default:

In your Stripe Dashboard, open Settings → Payment methods.

Scroll to Klarna and click Turn on.
It can take a short while after enabling before Klarna starts appearing at your checkout.
Route 2: Klarna through Airwallex

Open your checkout step, select the payment form element, and click Edit payment options.

Click Connect a new gateway, then choose Buy Now, Pay Later → Klarna (through Airwallex).

Name the gateway, click Connect, and complete the authorisation on Airwallex’s side.

Select the new payment method on the list and save your changes.
Airwallex supports Klarna for shoppers in these regions, and the processing currency is fixed per region:

The currency is dictated by where the shopper is, not by your preference. A UK shopper pays through Klarna in GBP, full stop. That’s exactly the situation geo-funnels exist for: one funnel per region, each in its region’s currency.
Route 3: Klarna through your merchant account
For merchants with a direct Klarna contract. You’ll need your API credentials from the Klarna Merchant Portal.

Open your checkout step, select the payment form element, and click Edit payment options.

Click Connect a new gateway, then choose Buy Now, Pay Later → Add New Buy Now, Pay Later Gateway.

In the Gateway field, select Klarna.

Name the gateway. It’s internal only, so name it for the account:
Klarna — EU contract. -
Using a sandbox account? Toggle the test switch on. Live credentials with the switch on, or sandbox credentials with it off, will both fail.

Enter the Username and Password from your Klarna Merchant Portal.

Select your region. It has to match the region your Klarna account is registered in.

Click Create, select the new payment method on the list, and save your changes.
Testing
Turn on Test Mode in the funnel’s top bar and run through your checkout. On the merchant-account route, remember test mode pairs with sandbox credentials. See step 5 above.
Klarna’s checkout runs on Klarna’s side, so what you’re verifying is the handoff and the return: the Klarna option appears, tapping it opens Klarna’s flow, and completing it lands the order in Funnelish and in your gateway with the right amount. Then follow Test payments before launch before going live.
If something isn’t working
Klarna doesn’t appear at checkout. Work through these in order: the funnel’s currency matches a Klarna market; the gateway is selected and saved on the payment form; on the Stripe route, Klarna is turned on in your Stripe dashboard, and give it a little time after enabling.
Klarna appears but declines. Klarna makes its own approval decision per purchase, per customer. A decline is between Klarna and the buyer, and there’s nothing to fix on your side.
The merchant-account gateway won’t connect. Check the credentials are from the Merchant Portal (not your Klarna login), the region matches your account’s registration, and the sandbox toggle matches the credential type.
Payment processing is the fiddliest part of building a funnel. Gateway credentials, currencies, country rules, the form itself: a lot of moving parts, and the one area where a mistake costs you orders rather than just looking wrong.
